Naturally wild and shimmering: Paua Shell Ruru Earrings made of 925 Sterling Silver

Ruru is the name of the New Zealand morepork owl, whose deep eyes capture light in the darkness. The Ruru earrings do something similar: Irregularly shaped paua shell pendants, set in 925 sterling silver hooks, light up in different shades of blue and green with every movement.

The paua shell grows exclusively on the coasts of New Zealand. Its shimmering colors are naturally created by the shell layers - no artificial coloring, no trick. Each pendant is unique.

Handmade in Germany

We craft each of our pieces of jewelry in our small studio in Kiel, and if you'd like to experience how it's done yourself, we offer jewelry workshops throughout Northern Germany.

Free Repair Service

Our jewelry is very repairable. In addition to the statutory warranty, we will cover any repair case within the first 12 months after your order, regardless of whose fault it is – we don't ask questions, we just fix it. You only pay for the return shipping.

Who is behind Salty Dreamers?

We are Fynn & Felize, and that's it. Five years ago, we returned from a trip to New Zealand with a lot of inspiration and the desire to create jewelry with meaning. Since then, we've been making everything in Kiel.

What exactly is the Paua shell?

The Paua shell is a sea snail from New Zealand and belongs to the abalone family. It is known for its exceptionally vibrant colors. No two shells are alike; each is a unique natural specimen. In New Zealand's Māori culture, Paua symbolizes protection and a connection to the sea. We source our shells sustainably and certified from New Zealand and transform the fragments into jewelry by hand. You can find more information here.
